Hey look a dragon

Jenna Kass wins at life.  Film at eleven.
I mean bloody hell look at those mountains.  And those teeth on that dragon.  And that gorgeous lighting.

Really, you should do this, if you make art. I am really excited to see what people make in response to the stories…

New goal: make a painting for 3+ of the stories.
Or at the very least one for July, that one was gorgeous.

at the edge of the lake

Figuring out how to best set up the background was a bit of a challenge but I like to think I succeeded.
A ballet pose study that turned into a watercolor study that turned into a full blown illustration for Swan Lake.  Apparently, I have no proper concept of test pieces.

This was supposed to be a ten minute sketch to test out some new painting techniques I found in one of my watercolor guide books.
Four days of reworks later I’m still not sure what happened.  “Simple”? What is this “simple” you speak of?

things to remember while drawing:

  • anatomy is great but dont stop because you cant get it perfect
  • not every picture has to be a masterpiece
  • try new things but remember its ok to draw things you like to draw
  • just because someone younger than you is “better” than you are does not mean you are untalented
  • everyone sees things differently
  • be proud of what you can do because nobody can do things the same way you can

Just -

- all of this.

ARTISTS INTERESTED IN DOING COVERS FOR TIMELY TALES OF THE POSTHUMANS:

quipquipquip:

Reblog this post with samples of your art! I’m trying to get an idea of who—-outside of the artists currently working with me—-would be interested in getting commissioned to do cover art for LGBTQ superhero short stories.

Well now this is an exciting possibility.  I would most certainly be interested in working with you.

I’ve put some samples under the cut.

June Hovick is kinda the person I wanted to be when I was growing up; someone who looked at herself, saw an opportunity to become who she really wanted to be, and took that leap of faith without looking back.
I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of The Posterchildren.  I can already tell it’ll be my new favorite book.
